Arrival – watercolor painting with a boat at the pier. Seems abandoned, a path starts path through the waterfront trees
In Arrival, a small boat and a landing stage nestle beneath tall trees at the water’s edge. The dark, upright forms of the trunks guide the eye towards this quiet meeting point between land and water, while loose washes of foliage soften the surrounding space.
Olive greens, muted yellows and cool greys flow into one another through transparent layers of watercolour. Some forms remain clearly defined; others dissolve into the white of the paper. This balance between presence and openness gives the landscape its stillness and sense of shelter.
The title suggests both reaching the shore and settling into a quieter state of mind. The boat and landing stage offer subtle traces of human presence within a landscape shaped by trees, water and light.
The painting belongs to A Rocking Silence, a series inspired by the Holt-Körös, an oxbow lake near Mezőtúr, Hungary. It preserves the experience of slowing down beside the water and becoming attentive to the quiet relationships within the landscape.
